i hope they serve beer in hell - i’m actaully a dumber person for reading this.  i can actually feel myself getting stupider.  i promised a friend i would read it.  he bought it.  at least i didn’t spend money on it.  this guy is a total jack ass.  sin in the second city - this is a great one.  i’ll have to let you know soon more about it.  the book that is making me stupid is...

kiss my ass oprah
she just gave $100,000 to an audience member (she did not fail to mention that taxes are not included…how much would that be anyway?).  that fucking sucks.  clearly not for the winner, but boy would i have loved to have been on the receiving end of that.  i can’t stand this crap.  i’m turning the tv, and the computer off, waking up trav and heading to bed.  goodnight. note:...

chocolate 'n bacon
well, tricia sent some of that bacon/chocolate that i posted about not too long ago.  surprise surprise, it tasted like bacon bits in chocolate.  it was yummy smokey bacon though.  i got the package two sundays ago.  how great is that, TWO sundays in a row with mail!  i opened it and went to call t, but the phone rang as soon as i picked up and it was her.  i LOVE being able to keep up with her on...

da bears and da olive
it was freezing. but, it was a great time. and i managed to stay warm. and the bears won. which was nice. irrelevant, but nice. anyway, it was a great game and mike and i had great dinner afterwards. it was good to get home at a decent hour. i love getting home in time to walk olive and say good night to trav. olive is awesome. she’s so sweet and she’s beautiful. but, she...

we've got rats. again.
so, the first time kind of made sense, kind of.  there was a giant hole in the wall due to a plumbing issue.  (i’m pretty sure there are rats living in the wall between our house and the house next to us.  they never make it in, but i definitely hear them walking around when i’m going sleepy.)  the hole was fixed up and the rats went away.  until two nights ago.  i woke up to find the...

kitchen gadgets -- use 'em or lose 'em? →
i like the idea of being a purist in the kitchen.  trav’s passed that onto me.  but like most things he has passed onto me, i’m a bit less extreme than he is.  we enjoy the same basic tools, but i don’t have a problem using all the tools at once.  i think he tries to use as few as possible.  anyway, gadgets take up space.  but i do want a tater ricer.

could have done without that
stats final really didn’t go as planed.  i’m sure i could have done better.  certain of it.  my mind just was not in the game.  i’m pissed about it.  i’m sure i didn’t fail.  and he is really good about partial credit, etc, but, it still bugs me.  i’m so much better than my performance last night. the title of my post cracks me up.  first, because it’s a...

i know, two on the same day from this guy. i clearly just found the site.  i like it though.  some of it is weird, but i’m liking some of the comments.  he bunches good, seemingly obvious ideas together in a readable way that will hopefully improve some lifestyles.  i think this list is particularly on the money and i put it with the list from earlier today in terms of things i have been...

15 can't miss ways to declutter your mind →
i try these things. i achieve most of them.  they do help.  i can’t imagine how much better i would feel if i was able to achieve all of them.  i don’t think you can just dive into incorporating them all in at the same time though.  i have been doing them one at a time and been pretty successful at it.  it’s interesting to see them all captured in this list.

skin is waterproof
i know that fairly obvious, but sometimes i don’t really think about obvious facts like that. i think that’s really cool. what if there was a condition where you skin was NOT waterproof?  IS  there such a condition?  now every time i wash my hands (which is a lot), i look at the water beading on my hands and think, “man, that’s so cool!” seriously. i do that. i...

christmas cards: snail mail vs. email
i’ve been debating this.  one one hand, email, especially email blasts, are tacky and impersonal.  on the other hand, they don’t kill trees.  this is where i get so torn on things like this.  i think a nice christmas card, received from mr. postman, is so nice, even if they just have a quick note scribbled in them.  someone took the time to think of you, find your address, walk it to...

taco tuesday-tastic!
after a short debate about whether to go or not (and realizing that despite a low (zero) showing), john and i headed over to tonic for a few tacos and a beer before getting a few more hours of pre sleep studying in last night. tacos delivered, beer in hand, danielle looking pleasantly surprised that there was not going to be a whole lot of mayhem at our table, diana and scott show up! closely...

too many presents?
nahhhh.  can’t have too many.  impossible.  i’m so overwhelmed by the response that my coworkers have given to the kids from our giving tree event.  today is the deadline and i had to take over the office across from mine because i literally could not move my chair or open any drawers in my own with all the gifts.  i mean, people went really above and beyond.  i put a list of ideas on...
