back from the dead
well, for a little while anyway. still couch surfing and eating unnecessarily. at travs house. enjoying myself immensely. the dream ends tomorrow afternoon, but i’m contemplating keeping away from work until january…
since we last spoke i have joined the ranks of blackberry obsessers. i now understand the term ‘crackberrry.’ i will maintain a no-work email policy, but...
weekend update
as arnie’s mom is quick to point out, i have been a bit quiet lately. just pluggin away at the ole job-a-roo, that’s all. i head home tomorrow so i’m scrambling a bit today, but i thought i’d do a plug for a great weekend that, while the pictures are sparse, included so many of the people in my life that i LOVE. and during this time of year, i feel like i get to be a bit...

not so lazy sundays
the squeeze ended up coming back to town a day early. excellent! i went out with my b-school kids for a graduation dinner (about half of our group of kid-o’s finished this semester) (bastards) that turned into me coming home several jameson’s after midnight. this did not bode well for my 6am start. seeing the squeeze was great motivation to rise in time for the jingle all the way...
spot came out of hiding last night
last night i was sitting on the couch, pre-drinking for the bars (come on, you know you do it to), with a silly hippy cat toy bouncing around in my hands. spot was in the other room, with a direct line of sight, watching it, but not quite ready to come play. so, he stared at me for 2 hours from the other room. i was entertained. but, still prepared to go wig-walkin with arnie’s mom and...
so.....
there is a cat (yes, an actual cat…with a gross litter box) in my apartment right now. spot. i brought him home yesterday after a wallet raping trip to petco. i was catchin up on some dvr and he bolted from one corner of the apartment to the other, leaving trails of dust (i learned that my apartment is disgusting) from all the hiding spaces he keeps finding. he’s big, so its not...

daisies in the winter
if i had my camera in functioning order, id take a picture of the fabulous daisies a friend brought to my brunch yesterday. there is something so great about seeing daisies in the winter time. it made my home feel fabulous. they are sitting front and center on the bar, with poinsettias on each side. thanks, girl!
drank enough mimosas yesterday to prevent scurvy for the rest of my life
– arnie’s mom. i’ll go out on a limb here and say that applies to me too.
unanticipated bonus of grad school?
graduation parties. obviously good times.
simple pleasures during a not so simple season
christmas time is not my favorite time. okay, maybe not such a shocker for those who know me. i hate shopping in the first place, but to do it wiht holiday music in my ears, music that makes me so nostalgic for a time when i did LOVE the holidays, really bums me out. i do try my best to check my shitty attitude at the door. i do this by engaging in a few simple pleasures.

should i become a cat person?
roosk: (trying to give away cats) want my dad’s cat? his name is diego and i would fully support you becoming a cat person. cat people aren’t as bad as you think. neither are cats. my dad will throw in the litterbox. it is self cleaning
the squeeze: I’d have to get an allergy test for cats
H: seriously? you want a cat?
AK: i would be all for that. u can come try my cat on...

just toss your cup out the window?
my professor last night was talking about innovative ideas surrounding sustainability during an operations discussion on cradle-to-cradle. she mentioned one author who suggested manufacturing biodegradable paper cups with seeds in them so you could just toss them on the ground (perhaps as your driving 80 mph on an interstate) and they would quickly breakdown and plant a seed. innovative? sure. ...

wow! ibm predicts that there will be thin solar cells embedded in sidewalks in the next five years. groovy!
